Team story

[p][span=font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; background: white; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;]Hello all,[/span] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; background: white; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt]First of all myself and Sarah would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for taking the time to log on and read our sponsor ship page. [/span][lt]/span[gt][p][span=background-color: #ffffff;][lt]span style="color: #888888;"[gt][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; background: white; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt][lt]span style="background-color: #ffffff;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #000000;"[gt]As most of you are aware our beautiful daughter Sophie was born very premature back in January of this year and it has probably been, to say the least, the toughest and most challenging 10 months of our lives so far. Since then Sophie's progress has been brilliant and she really has come a long way in terms of her development. If someone would have told us 10 months ago the position we would be in now we really wouldn’t have believed them.[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt] [lt]/span[gt][p][span=background-color: #ffffff;][lt]span style="color: #888888;"[gt][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; background: white; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt] [/span][span=color: #000000;]All of the above really wouldn’t have been possible without the specialist consultants, doctors and nurses in the special care baby unit at Watford general hospital, we really couldn’t thank them enough for what they did over the six weeks she spent there and seeing the level of care and commitment that she received during her stay really took us back. Not only did they ensure that her every need was met but they also made us feel very welcome, almost as if we were part of the team and kept us informed of even the slightest change in her condition or development. Without that constant round the clock level of care she wouldn’t be with us today and for that we will be forever grateful.[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;][lt]span style="color: #000000;"[gt][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; background: white; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt]So why Bliss???[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;][lt]span style="color: #000000;"[gt][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; background: white; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt]Well we guess it’s true what they say, you really never know much about something until it happens to you, that really is the case here. Until this happened to us we never really understood much about premature babies, the level of care required in order for them to survive or just how common it really is. Whilst some premature births can be explained the vast majority are never fully understood and the causes unknown. With this in mind there is also a lack of government funding into the research of premature births and with the budget cuts each year ever increasing this is only set to get tougher and funds even more vast.[/span][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt] [p][span=background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt]The money we raise by running 26.2 miles for Bliss will help support the Bliss nurse programme across the UK. The Bliss nurse programme started in June 2011 and it is their aim to have at least 28 Bliss nurses in post by 2020. Bliss nurses provide a non-clinical role focus solely on supporting the families of premature babies, helping them to cope with the stress and anxiety that often accompanies their baby’s condition.[/span][lt]/span[gt] [p][span=background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt]So I guess what we are asking for is for everyone to dig deep and please give what you can towards this amazing charity. As you can see our goal is £5000 but we really would like to exceed this amount and raise as much money as possible so that[/span][span=background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);] many more families in the future can benefit from the level of care that we were so fortunate to have received and keep the research into premature births moving forward. With the money raised and the developments in technology ever changing, scientists are learning more and more about the causes and treatments for this condition and more babies than ever are surviving from earlier ages then ever thought possible.[/span][lt]/span[gt] [p][span=background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt]If that’s not a good enough reason to give what you can then perhaps just the thought of Sarah and I running 26.2 miles will do the trick! So come on people help us out!!!!![/span][lt]/span[gt] [p][span=background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);][lt]span style="font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; color: black; font-size: 7.5pt;"[gt]Many thanks in advance for any contribution you may give. [/span][lt]/span[gt][p] [/p][/p][/p][/p][/p][/p][/p][/p][/p][/p][/p][p][span=background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);] [/span][/p][p][span=background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);] [/span][/p]
