My story

[p]A few years ago, my wife, Mandy was diagnosed with primary progressive MS. This is basically an incurable, untreatable disease. In the time she has had this illness I have had to watch her go from an active person who loved walking the dogs for miles to someone who can hobble around the house and needs a wheelchair to go more than a very short distance.[/p][p]At that start of this year, I committed my self to do something to raise money to help research a future cure or prevention for this disease. I felt I needed to do something that was challenging enough and take enough effort from me that others might be able to respond generously. At the same time, I didn't want my activity to be some glamorous deed that cost a fortune and could be viewed as fun rather than effort. [/p][p]So here it is. Race To The Stones. A 100km (62 miles), non-stop, run along Britain's oldest path across the English countryside. This is an off road, cross country race that covers some pretty robust terrain and hills so it's not just about the distance. [/p][p]As I set out on this task, the furthest I have ever run in one go is 14 miles. I now have 17 weeks to train and increase that distance by 442%. It's going to be a lot of effort and probably quite a lot of pain, but I am hoping that those I know, and maybe a few I don't, will make it all worthwhile by help me reach my fundraising target. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Thanks for reading my story and thanks in advance for your generosity. [/p]
