My story

[p] [/p][p] Land’s End to John O’Groats August 2019[/p][p] Bike challenge[/p][p] [/p][p] Please donate what you can by clicking on the link http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/seanwhinray[/p][p]Instead of riding between cafes in the UK or Alps to drink coffee and eat large pieces of cake, I felt it was time I did something worthier with my cycling time.[/p][p] On August 23rd I will start, with others, a ride from the furthest tip south in the Country at Land’s End to reach the most northerly tip in Scotland at John O’Groats on my road bike. My intention is to raise money for the below two charities which I feel a close affinity to.[/p][p] There is no official route for this ride with several available, but ours is 920 miles which we are aiming to complete in 9 days. For the cycling geeks who wish to know more details about the terrain, route and climbs, let me know. For the majority, it will be enough to know that the suffering will be relentless and constant.[/p][p] Our support, equipment and all costs for the trip have been paid for by ourselves, which means that any money you choose to donate will go directly to one of my two charities from the Virgin Money Giving account.[/p][p] I am not a regular fundraiser but would be very grateful for everyone’s support no matter how much or little you choose to donate.[/p][p] The Charities and support organisations who rely on fundraising face a constant battle to raise money. Often, we are unaware of their struggle until we need their support.[/p][p] I know you will all be behind me and wishing me well. I have already received some fantastic words of support and suggestions, one of which I thought I would share.[/p][p] “I think you should wear luminous cycling kit at all times” Mistakenly I enquired if there was a new brand out which would enhance my look as I wobbled north. Imagine my disappointment when I was told “No…it will improve your chances of being found by the Air Ambulance” (I couldn’t possibly say…but the name begins with C)[/p][p] [/p][p] My Chosen Charities………[/p][p] Dementia UK[/p][p] My dear Mum, Joyce, has now been suffering from Vascular Dementia for many years. It is a cruel condition & leaves her debilitated, frightened & confused. Unfortunately, the effects are irreversible and manifest themselves in an unpredictable permanent decline. Mum is now in the advanced stages of Dementia, which presents a daily challenge for her, and can be all consuming for those who support her. Last year my dad John was also diagnosed with the same, and it is a sad fact that most of you may experience a family member or friend who may also suffer.[/p][p]Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through the Admiral Nurse service.[/p][p]Reach - Helping children with upper limb differences live life without limits. Helping families by providing resources, support and practical advice. Sharing stories and showing families how incredible our children are.[/p][p]Millie-Rose is now 11 weeks old.[/p][p]This beautiful little girl belongs to my fantastic niece Katie and her equally fantastic partner Gary. Millie-Rose was born in April this year with no left hand. [/p][p] Katie and Gary –[/p][p] “We are so proud of our beautiful, perfect little girl Millie-Rose. Our life has completely changed for the better. Millie-Rose has amniotic band syndrome which means her left arm hasn’t developed properly. She is growing so quickly, and we know that many challenges lie ahead.[/p][p] Reach supports so many families like us and we are so proud of our Uncle Sean for taking this on for such a worthy cause, close to our hearts[/p][p] [/p][p] So that’s it!.......Please donate whatever you can and share if you think you have friends and family who would be interested in sponsoring me for this event.[/p][p] [/p][p] Please donate what you can by clicking on the link http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/seanwhinray[/p][p] [/p][p] Big Thanks!....don't forget to share![/p][p][br][/p][p] Sean Whinray[/p][p] [/p][p] [img][/img][/p][p] [/p]
