My story

[p]Hello! Welcome to our fundraising team... Sarah, Harj, Emma, Rachel and of course yoU....team SHERU, meaning Lion in Punjabi. We are a pride of 4 lionesses, taking on the RCHT London to Paris Cycle Challenge 2020.[/p][p]Well done everyone who completed February's 5km virtual distance challenge. If you have emailed your address to sheru.lions@gmail.com then your medal is on it's way to you![/p][p] March's virtual distance is 7km![/p][p]Don't worry if you're a bit late to the party. We are still accepting February 5kms, so you can still collect all 9 medals! It just means you will have to do your 5km and a 7km this month and donate 2 x £10 (also known as £20).[/p][p]Virtual Distance Challenge how to:[/p][p]1 - Complete your March 7km[/p][p]2 - Donate your £10 below[/p][p]3 - Email sheru.lions@gmail.com with your address to receive your bespoke 3D printed medal!! [/p][p]A brief intro to our totally ROARsome team......[/p][p]We are 4 doctors, who all met working at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske, and decided to sign up to the hospital charity London to Paris cycle challenge 2020 to help raise money for causes that are important to each of us in our roles within the hospital trust. [/p][p]Sarah Benjamin, a GP trainee who already cycles far too much, will be leading the Pride on this ride. She is raising money for the West Cornwall Memory Café, who run a number of initiatives to improve care for patients with dementia and memory loss.[/p][p]Harjeet Sahota, an Elder Care Registrar, is new to long distance cycling, however she has been known to achieve queen of the mountain up Porthtowan hill (after a full veggie English!). She is raising money for the Elder Care department at Treliske.[/p][p]Emma Keohane, an Emergency Department Registrar, the most flexible member of the group, is raising money for the Emergency Department at Treliske, and is hoping to avoid non-work related attendance at her own department as a result of forgetting she's clipped in (again!).[/p][p]Rachel Chiumento, a Paediatric Intensive Care Registrar, adds an Italian flair to the mix. She recently completed her first triathlon and frequently cycles to work in the dark and the rain. She currently works in Liverpool, but has strong connections with the paediatric team at RCHT and so will be raising money for their department.[/p][p]And finally, but most importantly.... yoU! We don't simply want you to click and donate (but we won't discourage this either!) we want to get you active and involved in our challenge adventure. [/p][p]Team Sheru Lions have set up a series of virtual distance challenges over the next 9 months, to encourage you all to fundraise by getting active. Each month we will set a distance to be achieved in any active way you choose. Run, walk, swim, or egg and spoon the set distances each month. All in one go, or spread over the month, simply donate £10 per event, let us know when you’ve achieved the distance (screenshot your Strava for kudos or simply drop us an email) and earn yourself a bespoke locally printed 3D medal for each distance completed. The aim is to complete all distances and collect the 9 medals that slot together to form a shield, to show off to everyone for your hard work![/p][p]The first challenge, February, is 5km. Get your 5km done and donate your £10 now!! The distance increases by 2km a month, culminating in a half marathon distance (21km) in October.[/p][p]Look out for our facebook events for each month's distances, and we will keep you up to date here too. For more information, drop us an email: sheru.lions@gmail.com and follow us on twitter @sherulions[/p][p]We will keep you updated on our progress through training and the challenge itself, but please be generous and donate to our fabulous cause.[/p]
