My story

[p]Shona’s running VMLM 2018 for 2 great charities. The Child Brain Injury Trust (Edinburgh) and Murrayfield Injured Players Foundation.[/p][p]I know!! - who said “that will be my last marathon”? [/p][p]Really though please keep reading, I promise by doing so you will help make a difference.[/p][p]Running the Virgin Money London Marathon last year was amazing, so good I wanted to do it again!! Friends that don’t have the running bug don’t always get it, why do I put myself through the rigours of winter training for months on end? but one summed me up perfectly; she said you always find a new purpose and reason to run. [/p][p]I am running to support a friend’s son who was playing rugby for his school December 2017 at BT Murrayfield Stadium when he suffered a serious head injury. It was a very difficult time for the family, but I am delighted to say he has survived and day by day is getting better. The family shared with me how blessed they feel. Without doubt the speed of reaction from the medical staff at Murrayfield is a significant factor in the positive outcome for them. The Doctors, Nurses, friends, family and whole rugby community have rallied around and provided exceptional support, but they still have a long road of recovery ahead. Both physical and psychological issues to overcome, if you pray please remember them. [/p][p]Every half an hour in the UK, a child or young person will acquire a brain injury. The Child Brain Injury Trust provides information, support and training to anyone affected by this devastating and life changing condition. www.childbraininjurytrust.org.uk to find out more... [/p][p]The Murrayfield Injured Players Foundation is an independent fund recognised by Scottish Rugby. The Foundation, originally set up in Scottish Rugby's centenary season 1972-73, focuses on providing assistance to injured Scottish rugby players. Since its inception, it has assisted a number of players with short or longer term injuries, with the help and support they needed. www.mipf.org.uk[/p][p]If you would like to help me support these worthy causes I would be most grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read my page. Every pound raised will be shared equally between these two amazing charities and can make such a difference.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
