Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p][p]When I was 66 I took on the ‘Clickety Click’ Challenge which was the John O’Groats to Lands End mileage but cheatingly done from my house every day until I had covered the equivalent distance.  It took 10 days and raised nearly £1300 for PCUK, Children of Fiji and the Aurora Centre, Worksop.[/p][p]Well the time has come for another challenge. As I am now 69 this challenge is the ‘Soixante Neuf’ Challenge. Despite the name it is still a cycling challenge. The name might possibly give you a clue as to the nature of the challenge.  This time we are going abroad and as the name suggests to La Belle France. [/p][p]This time I will not be alone.  I shall be accompanied by my cyclist friend Dave Battrum who unfortunately was injured for the ‘Clickety Click’ Challenge and our support team of John Simon who will follow us in his ecofriendly hybrid estate car.[/p][p]The challenge is to cycle from Worksop to Paris in 6 days on classic cycles. I have a 1970's Holdsworth and Dave has one of the last cycles to come off the Carlton Cycles production line at Worksop in the early 1980's.  [/p][p]We are aiming to start in the second week in July.  The route takes us to Newhaven via Peterborough and Barking and then to Paris via Dieppe. It should take us about 6 days to get from sunny Worksop to, hopefully an equally sunny Eiffel Tower via the Champs-Élysées.[/p][p]We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
