Team story

[p]Thanks for visiting our page and supporting us as we take on our craziest race to date. The MONTANE® Spine® Race is widely regarded as one of the world’s toughest endurance races. A truly epic challenge that will test our physical resilience and mental fortitude.[/p][p]Having taken part in warm climate multi-day events in the Sahara and Grand Canyon, we have now doubled the distance (268 miles non-stop over 7 days) in the middle of the English Winter, self-navigating whilst carrying our own clothes, tents and food for the week. Just make it a little more difficult we have to climb over 15000m, or roughly over 10 climbs up Ben Nevis, in the wind, rain and snow. To illustrate the beauty and the brutality see https://thespinerace.com/[/p][p]We have chosen two charities that for personal reasons are close to our hearts. The Bath Rugby Foundation that does so much great work in the local community and the Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal that is supporting Bristol Children's Hospital. [/p][p]Barnsey's young 4 year old nephew and family received the news no one wants to hear when almost exactly 1 year ago they were told he had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, AML. Since diagnosis Owain has been superbly looked after by the staff at Bristol Children’s Hospital as he has faced the challenges of intensive chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant and long periods in hospital, often in isolation. Whilst we are undoubtedly have some dark times on the Pennines, it will be nothing compared to the trials Owain has faced over the last year and hopefully we can face them with the same smile and courage he has shown throughout his treatment.[/p][p]Any money that you are able to donate will allow these amazing charities continue with their unbelievable work and help many more people in the future. We must stress that we have paid all our own costs and 100% of any money given will be given directly to the charities and used to benefit others.[/p][p]We really appreciate your support and thank you for any donation.[/p][p]Best wishes[/p][p]Barnsey & Stu[/p][p]PS - Please feel free to meet us on route with bacon butties and lots of coffee[/p]
