My story
[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]My name is Juliet and I will be the guide for this trek. Our mission (should you choose to accept it) is collectively to walk from Friends of Ibba Girls’ School (FIGS) HQ in the UK to Ibba Girls’ School in South Sudan. The distance? 8494 km![/p][p]We ask you to donate ‘trek kilometres’ however you wish. This may be in your leisure time or part of your working day, you can get your family and friends to sponsor you, or you can simply make a donation for every kilometre you do! We suggest £1 per km (but don’t let me stop you if you are feeling more generous!). We need both your kilometres (1km is as wonderful as 10) and your donations to get us to Ibba. [/p][p]If you do a lot of walking in your day to day life but find you can't keep donating money each time, don't worry! We'd love to take your kilometres regardless! We will try and find some people to sponsor your walks! Or you happen to be on the other side of this and would love to donate some money but can't go out for a walk for any reason, we'll try and find a walker for you to sponsor. If either of these soundlike you, send us an email at stepsforsouthsudan@gmail.com with the distance you are walking/money you would like to donate and we will try and match up some walkers and sponsors! [/p][p]Donations are easy to make: either text* 70470 with STEPS and the amount you want to donate (e.g. STEPS 5 will donate £5), or make a donation here. You can either include details of how far you have travelled in the 'post a message' section or email us. That way, we can track your distance.[/p][p]Although this is virtual and we aren’t actually walking the stunning route (sadly), I will be updating you daily with the distance we’ve ‘travelled’(this will be adding up all the local walks you have gone on), plus updating our map, as well as a weekly update of where we (would) have reached along with the sights and sounds of everything we (would) have passed! Make sure to share your part of the journey on social media to inspire others to join the trek and keep updated on the FIGS website, on Facebook or Twitter.[/p][p]Thank you![/p][p]Juliet[/p][p][br][/p][p]* Text Disclaimer:[/p][p]Texts cost the exact amount you donate plus one standard rate message and you'll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you'd like to give but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text STEPSINFO (and the amount you'd like to give here, eg. 3) to 70470*[/p]

Congratulations, Juliet, on this heroic fundraising. As a FIGS trustee, I can't thank you enough. This morning you said that you were £260 short. According to my iPhone I walked 2734 km from 1 May to 31 October, so at just 10p per km, here is £273. Hugh
