My story

[p]This year I’m running the London Marathon in memory of my Dad, Arthur Paul, who sadly passed away at the start of this year. It has only been in recent years that he has really told his family about how he was bullied and beaten at school, not by the other pupils but by his teachers, and all because he was lefthanded.[/p][p]Later in his life my Dad lobbied the Blair Government to try to prevent them from reducing the funding to anti-bullying initiatives within schools. [/p][p]I started doing volunteer work and raising funds for the NSPCC before I knew any of this had happened and when I told my Dad about the work that the NSPCC was doing in schools he became very emotional, but he was pleased to learn about the work now being carried out by the charity.[/p][p]My Dad started running in his 50s and continued with regular jogs well into his 80s, even entering a few local runs, but he never took part in a marathon. This year I’ll be running in his memory and hoping to raise more funds for the NSPCC, because every childhood is worth fighting for.[/p]
