[p]Instructors, Staff, Students, Friends and Family of The Martial Arts and Fitness Centre (MAFC), Maindee, Newport and I.M.A.A. Satellite Clubs currently have a Charity party taking place on Saturday 11th July to help raise much needed funds for Special Care Infant Parent Support (SCIPS) [/p][p][b][span=text-decoration: underline;]ADULTS 'SUMMER NIGHT SPECIAL' CHARITY PARTY - SATURDAY 11TH JULY[/span][/b][/p][p]We are hosting a 'Summer Night Special' Adults Charity Party on Saturday 11th July which will include a Show, Disco and Raffle. Proceeds raised at this event will be split with SCIPS and other Charities. All amounts raised will be announced on the night of the Party and later donated to this page.[/p][p][b]ABOUT SPECIAL CARE INFANT PARENT SUPPORT (SCIPS)............................[/b][/p][p]The charity was set up in 1981 with the aim of fundraising and also supporting parents who are experiencing the stressful time of the Special Care Baby unit at The University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff - now known as the Welsh Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.[/p][lt]h3[gt]What SCIPS do:[lt]/h3[gt][p]SCIPS is a collaboration of the efforts of staff from the Neonatal Unit as well as parents past and present who have gone through the experience of having a child on the unit. Through fundraising events and the extraordinary efforts of our supporters and friends the money we raise goes towards the care and support of the many parents and children who require neonatal intensive care.[/p][lt]h3[gt]Where the Money Goes:[lt]/h3[gt][p]As anyone who’s had a child admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit will know, the experience can be stressful, upsetting and confusing. Therefore, at SCIPS we are committed to trying to make the process a little less traumatic for all concerned. Therefore, the money we raise is always with an aim to provide both care and help for the children as well as comfort, support and help for the parents who are living through the experience. Naturally we try to raise funds to help pay for equipment that can be vital to the treatment of the children on the unit; however, we also provide for those ‘extra’ things – the little touches that might offer some extra comfort or support to the parents.[/p][p]Things such as:[/p][ul][li]soft furnishings for the nurseries and parents areas[/li][li]camera and printer for instant photo’s to be given to parents[/li][li]keepsake boxes[/li][li]first diaries and nursery fittings[/li][li]clothes[/li][/ul][p]Anything to make the parents and siblings stay on the unit a bit easier. We also provide financial support for parents for things such as travelling or funeral costs and fund the Annual Remembrance Service for loved and lost babies.[/p][lt]h3[gt]Supporting Each Other[lt]/h3[gt][p]We’re ever grateful to the wonderful support that we receive from parents whose lives have been touched by an experience on the Neonatal Unit and, as such we aim to give this support and help back to all those people past, present and indeed future however they may need it. From our regular coffee mornings or our other events to the creation of this website and our Facebook page we try to create an environment where we can offer help, advice & support but also where you can share your stories and news, offer up tips and generally chat with friends united by a shared experience.[/p][p]Thank you for visiting our page. ***CHARITY PARTY TICKET SALES*** 150 tickets sold for the Charity party on Saturday 11th July (To be divided between 5 Charities) = 30 tickets each. 30 x £5 per ticket = £150 to each Charity.
