My story

[p]In september 2018, at the start of my time in 6th from at school we received news that my father had been diagnosed with bowl cancer. Sadly, the cancer had already spread significantly, making it unlikely that he would be able to ever see the end of it.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Being the positive man that he was, my father lived his life to the fullest, while receiving chemotherapy, allowing him to spend time with my brother and I and his girlfriend jacky while he was ill. In the 2 years that he was diagnosed with cancer, we have so many great memories with him.[/p][p][br][/p][p]In June 2020 however, we heard from the doctors that, as we knew would sadly happen at some point, he had limited days left. In these very tough times for my dear father, but also my family and I, Macmillan did the most amazing work. In my father and families most uncomfortable times, they did an outstanding job to make everyone better and comfortable. Working late hours and being readily available all of the time was what showed there true dedication and selflessness. I am forever thankful for the macmillan workers that were there to help. [/p][p][br][/p][p]As someone who has experienced this as a family member, I would want any other family or person in the same situation to be able to have macmillan support then in the same way. [/p][p][br][/p][p]We're here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, we're right there with you. [/p][p]For information, support or just someone to talk to, call 0808 808 00 00 or visit macmillan.org.uk. [/p][p]To give, fundraise or volunteer call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk. [/p][p]We are a charity registered in England and Wales (261017), Scotland (SCO39907) and the Isle of Man (604).[/p]
