Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. [/p][p]John and I signed up for our second joint 10k run for the wonderful Small Steps.[/p][p]Small Steps is a small but amazing charity which helps preschool children, with special needs like Joe, through bespoke sessions run by physios and conductors (not the musical kind) which address their physical needs and help improve their social skills both of which help build their confidence.  One of the things that makes Small Steps special is that parents or carers also attend the sessions and learn vital skills to assist their child's continued development at home.  Equally important is the support given outside the sessions to parents and carers to navigate the challenges of bringing up a child with special needs.[/p][p]Small Steps need funding more than ever with the current economic uncertainties – though one thing is certain: state support for disabled children is at risk and not going to improve any time soon, which is why the service provided by Small Steps is so important to the children and their families.  [/p][p]We have both been training hard and John is determined to beat his time from  two years ago!  My training has however hit a brick wall when I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago (don't ask how!) and I currently wouldn't be able to walk 10k let alone run it but there is still a Yasue running!  My lovely brother, Bruce, has agreed at short notice to run it for me.  Fortunately he is match fit and will be able to finish a good half an hour quicker than I would have done (even before my injury!)[/p][p]Thank you so much for visiting our page and if you feel able donating to such a vital cause which really makes a difference to the families it supports. [/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
