My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]In the summer of 2018, I was due to attempt my latest charity motorbike challengeto ride the top of Arctic Alaska, along the notoriously dangerous Dalton Highway, made famous in the documentary TV series ‘Ice Road Truckers’. A route of 5,000 miles in 12 days. However due to unforseen circumstances beyond my control (due to my motorbike insurance provider with drawing cover and me being unable to provide an alternative) I've had to postpone my trip until a later date.[/p][p]I have, however, decided to re-plan and I will be now be taking on Arctic Ride Iceland! A 3 week journey to the far North of Iceland to reach the Arctic in a new country.[/p][p]I will be attempting my re-planned challenge in order to raise funds for Newcastle based charity The Tiny Lives Trust, and national brain-injury charity Cerebra, both of which are causes which is very close to his heart. I'm attempting to raise £4,000. [/p][p]In 2014 my daughter Islay was born 6 weeks prematurely and spent time while she was critically ill being cared for at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary on Ward 35 – also known as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). The Tiny Lives Trust helps to care for premature and sick newborn babies, their mothers, and families in SCBU by providing a range of facilities, staff, and equipment. [/p][p]Cerebra, who have supported my disabled little brother Robbie since 2001, are a unique national charity that strives to improve the lives of children with neurological conditions, through research, information and direct, on-going support. [/p][p]You can follow my preparations and progress on my blog www.arcticride.blogspot.com Facebook & Twitter.[/p][p]As part of my fundraising I also completed the Great North Run in September 2017 to raise funds for The Tiny Lives Trust. I finished in 2 hours 27 minutes. Thank you for all the support and funds donated for the race.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
