Team story

Thank you for visiting our page. I am one of a number of Hand Surgeons in the UK supporting the development of the Reconstructive Unit at the Holy Spirit Hospital Makeni in Sierra Leone. We are raising funds for theatre equipment including battery powered drills , dermatomes ( for skin grafting) and a variety of surgical instruments. Our surgical missions are being organised through the British Society for Surgery of the Hand linked with Resurge Africa. Medical Aid International are also supporting this work.

Over the last year the Unit has progressed and there are Surgical teams visiting every six weeks undertaking reconstructive surgery. Our particular focus is on Hand and Upper Limb surgery, however the equipment we wish to obtain will be used for all forms of reconstructive procedures. Please see the RESURGE AFRICA web site or visit the Holy Spirit Hospital Makeni website for more information.

We wish to thank Mr Sanjib Majumder (Surgeon) for his recent donation of £750 to the fund and acknowledge two other CAF cheques contributing a further £300 to the Offline fundraising.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support for this project to establish this Reconstructive Unit in West Africa and thank you for any donations.

Thank you

Jonathan Jones
