Team story

[p]So one fateful night I decided to run the London Marathon for Diabetes UK! (Bare in mind I have never ran a marathon before!). I have also signed up for the Anglesey Half Marathon in March.[/p][p]About me and Diabetes[/p][p]I am Luke, I am 29 and from Anglesey, North Wales. I have type 1 diabetes! [/p][p]I was diagnosed in December 2010. I became seriously unwell with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening condition that required urgent medical attention and time in 24 hour care. I lost more than four stone and was admitted to hospital. I was told by the nurse, that if I had not been admitted that night, I may not of woke up the next day, so in retrospect, I am very luck to be here in the condition I am, things could of been a lot worse![/p][p]So this for me is not about just running a marathon. Its about showing that a condition such as this should not limit you. [/p][p]Diabetes UK and many other organisations have made fantastic strides in developing better solutions for management of the condition. Hopefully by raising some more money we can make greater strides to better management and hopefully one day a cure.[/p][p]So please, please donate an don't forget to tick gift aid, its basically just the government giving money back.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
