Team story

[p] Thank you for visiting [span=color: #ff6600;]The Long Walk Home [/span]fund raising page.[/p][p]So what's the story? [/p][p][span=color: #ff6600;]Well the story is that we have gone and done it!!Yes on Sunday 30th April we walked from Stoke on Trent to Sutton Coldfield, 38.5 miles give or take a few feet, for charity. You can read why below and you can keep donating until the ned of this month. So please keep giving and help us reach our target of £10k[/span][/p][p][span=color: #ff6600;]2 years ago on April 10th 2015 I suffered an unexpected heart attack. I spent 2 weeks at Good Hope Hospital and was subsequently diagnosed with 5 blockages around my heart resulting in a transfer to The Royal Stoke University Hospital where I underwent a triple heart bypass operation on April 27th.[/span][/p][p][span=color: #000000;]During my time in Stoke I came up with the idea of walking home. It seemed such a good idea at the time! Don't ask me why but the idea stuck with me and on May 1st 2016 a group of us [lt]span style="color: #ff6600;"[gt]"The Orange Hoody Crew"[/span] embarked on the 40 mile trek. It took a while, 14 hours to be exact but all 13 of us made it home, somewhat battered, bruised and blistered. In the process we raised over 10k for charity.[lt]/span[gt][/p][p][span=color: #000000;][lt]span style="color: #ff6600;"[gt]Well this year we are going to do it all over again and this time we have 23 intrepid members of The Orange Hoody Crew 2017, namely;[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p][p][span=color: #000000;][lt]span style="color: #ff6600;"[gt]Adam Gittens, Andy Robinson, Anna Vandeventer, Anthony Levelle, Chris Squire, Chris Williams, Dave Jones, Graham Perry, Joanne Benson, Jorg Schwarzbach, Julian Lee, Liam Owen, Luke Gittens, Mark Edwards, Peter Howard, Phil Durose, Richard Stokes, Bob Milner, Soo Milner, Steve Tamplin, Yaz Benson, Pat Cannon and me.[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p][p][span=color: #000000;][lt]span style="color: #ff6600;"[gt]We will be supported all the way by Martin Ward, Phoebus Vandeventer and Nicky Tonks....The Orange Hoody Road Crew.[/span][lt]/span[gt][/p][p]We will be setting off on the 40 mile trek at 6.00am on Sunday April 30th 2017  from The Stoke Royal Universtiy Hospital and finishing at The Crown in Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield at around 8.00pm.[/p][p]We are raising money for 2 amazing small charities this year, firstly [span=color: #ff6600;]The Buddy Bag Foundation[/span], doing amazing things for young children who are taken into emergency care with little or no opportunity to gather any possessions together and [span=color: #ff6600;]Footsteps Counselling & Support[/span], a tiny local charity in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield staffed entirely by volunteers providing counselling support to young people and adults in the area. I have met with the founders of both charities and spoken at length about what they do and the passion with which they provide support, truly inspiring stuff. [/p][p][span=color: #ff6600;]Both of these charities provide much needed support to extremely vulnerable individuals and families during very traumatic times in their lives[/span]. I was very lucky that during my challenging experience I was surrounded by amazing family and friends who provided me with the love and support when I needed it most. Not everyone is as lucky as me and that is why your donation will be so important. These two organisations provide the support we take for granted.[/p][p]Please make your donation safe in the knowledge that [span=color: #ff6600;]100%[/span] of your money will go directly to the people who need it most as both charities are staffed solely by volunteers.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving you can sponser us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the charities. VMG is a not for profit organisation and will claim the gift aid on behalf of the charities where the doner is eligible for this.[/p][p]Thanks you so much [/p][p][span=color: #ff6600;]Mark (Billy) Tonks & The Orange Hoody Crew 2017[/span][/p]
