Team story

[p]Only 5% of Gioblastomas (terminal brain tumour) sufferers live to 5 years from diagnosis. We the Three Tumours, though not all in great health, have all made it this far and are raising £50k to improve that statistic. To celebrate our achievement of surviving for over 5 years the three of us have chosen to set up a charity - The Three Tumours. All three of us are from the North East but would probably never have become friends if it wasn’t for the challenges that unite us….[/p][p]Our first event is Walking the 84 miles of Hadrian's Wall April 25th - 2nd May. It might not sound that long or quick to serious athletes, but some days we struggle to walk 20 meters as a result of the condition.[/p][p]In the UK, 16,000 people each year are diagnosed with a brain tumour. Those with a GBM4, the most common Brain Tumour, have an even worse prognosis – an average life expectancy of 12-18 months with treatment.[/p][p]Awareness of the devastation caused by brain tumours is low. Less than 10% of people in the UK know that brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.[/p][p]Please give generously![/p][p]The Three Tumours[/p][p][img][/img][/p]
