My story

[p]Cancer has had a large impact upon my immediate family. My mother died aged 38 from breast cancer & my grandfather died from bowel cancer.[/p][p]It came as a great shock to myself, my family and friends when I was diagnosed with bowel cancer age 33 in November 2020. Particularly since we were subsequently told that I was at stage 4 with signs of cancer also in my spleen & liver.[/p][p]I have since committed to significant lifestyle & dietary change. [/p][p]With support from my family & friends I gave up nicotine, caffeine, alcohol & around 90% of my refined sugar intake as well as making other dietary changes (primarily less processed food & more fruit, veg & variety) as well as embracing chemotherapy treatments that fortunately have still been available to me in spite of the ongoing pandemic.[/p][p]Thankfully my body responded amazingly to my lifestyle changes and treatment and I have been able to do a reasonable level of running throughout my nine cycles of fortnightly introvenus chemotherapy and my five weeks of daily intensive Chemo-radiotherapy treatments.[/p][p]I am very pleased to have obtained a place to run the London Marathon on 3rd October to raise money for Macmillan; an incredible charity that has been and is continuing to be an incredibly helpful support to not just myself & my family but also to huge swathes of people all across the UK, a charity that I feel embodies the very best of human nature and holds the objective of being able to offer comprehensive emotional & financial support as well as a wealth of free information on cancer to every cancer patient in the UK.[/p][p]Thank you for reading. Let's see what we can do to help! :)[/p][p]Thank you so much to everyone involved in this for your donations, love, care, attention, prayers & support.... I am quite sure that all of this has played an integral role in the success of my treatments so far & in the massive improvements I have seen in my general health to date. :) :)[/p]
