My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]Last year, while training for Tough Mudder in Epping forest, I noticed a sharp pain in my chest. The Chest pain was quite severe and was stopping me in my tracks. After some investigation, I discovered that I had a narrowing of my left anterior descending artery, and had to have a heart stent fitted. This was a very scary time as I considered myself a healthy person, it came as a bit of a shock to suddenly be told I needed a small piece of metal fitted in my heart to help me function. [/p][p]I am now totally fit and well, and consider myself as lucky as they only thing I have to do now is ensure I take regular medication to lead a normal life. [/p][p]Though my condition is not related directly to Cardiomyopathy, I understand how scary it can be to be diagnosed with a life-changing heart condition and although I have been lucky with my diagnosis many people aren't. So many people start with similar symptoms to mine end up finding out that there is no cure only a way to manage their condition and it becomes a life-changing event. Hence why I am more than aware of the importance of the heart and the charities that support it. I have decided to run the London Marathon 2018 on behalf of Cardiomyopathy UK.[/p][p]Cardiomyopathy refers to diseases of the heart muscle. These diseases have many causes, signs and symptoms, and treatments. In cardiomyopathy, the heart muscle becomes enlarged, thick, or rigid. In rare cases, the muscle tissue in the heart is replaced with scar tissue and affects around 160,000 people in the UK.[/p][p]Cardiomyopathy is often genetic, and symptoms include tiredness, breathlessness and palpitations. Although a diagnosis of cardiomyopathy can be life-changing, with the right treatment and support, most people can live full and active lives.[/p][p]Please help me to support Cardiomyopathy UK - the heart muscle charity.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and your donations will be processed and passed directly to Cardiomyopathy UK.[/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
