My story

[p]As a totally novice runner I’m very proud to be taking part in the London Marathon in aid of Sambhali Trust. I’ll be raising money that will help educate, empower and support underprivileged women and children living in Rajasthan. Without the assistance of Sambhali it’s genuinely very hard to imagine how they would be able to break the cycle of poverty, discrimination and abuse that is the reality of their daily lives. A little can still go a long way in India, so if you feel able to support me by making a donation, no matter how small, I know it will be money very well spent and will genuinely be changing lives for the better. [/p][p]In 2014 Sambhali won United Nations accreditation, denoting the importance of their work in the field of women and low caste issues. [/p][p]Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page and if you have a few minutes to read on you’ll learn a little more about the Sambhali Trust and why it means so much to those it helps…[/p][p]My company, Trading Boundaries, has been trading in India, and specifically Rajasthan, since 1996. We’ve always been keen to support the local communities that have become home from home for us over the years. There are so many worthwhile causes, so why Sambhali?[/p][p]I first heard of the Sambhali Trust a few years ago from Virendra Singh Chouhan, one of the founding Trustees. I finally visited the charity in 2016 and was instantly struck by the warmth, sincerity and dedication of everyone involved. [/p][p]Created by founder Govind Singh Ratore, the Trust launched three small projects in 2007 - a literacy programme with 13 girls, the first empowerment centre with 26 women and a rural project involving 51 women. Just over 10 years on the Trust has reached out to over 10,000 women and children, transforming their lives for the better. It now runs 17 projects including boarding homes for girls; primary education centres for children; a scholarship programme; empowerment centres for women; an SOS project providing emotional, practical and financial support to women in urgent need of help; a telephone helpline for victims of domestic abuse; and sewing centres with a graduate training programme.[/p][p]If you'd like to learn more, to read annual reports or to find out about other ways in which you could help, please visit :-[/p][p]http://www.sambhali-trust.org[/p][p]I'd like to thank UK Trustee Sarah Harrington for giving me this amazing opportunity. I'll be doing my best not to let her down... And finally I'd like to thank you for reading this far and for anything you feel able to donate![/p][p]Tracy x[/p][p][br][/p]
