My story

[p]On the 14th August 2017 I began a solo bike ride from London to Tokyo where I recounted some of my adventures at twowheelstotokyo.com[/p][p]There are several reasons why I attempted what you probably think is a crazy feat. Firstly, it was a personal adventure to totally change my picture of reality and see a good portion of the world and its people. However, it's also to raise money for two amazing charities. The first is CLIC Sargent, a national charity which provides emotional, financial, and practical support to young people and children who have been diagnosed with cancer. My brother, who is now a member of CLIC Sargent's board of trustees, was helped by the charity after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011, and I’m so grateful to them for the support they gave my family during this difficult time.[/p][p] [/p][p]They helped to instil confidence in my brother after his treatment, and I know that he met many other young people in the same position as him. It truly helped him realise he wasn’t alone, and we’re forever indebted to them for the fantastic work that they do.[/p][p] [/p][p]The second is Hope and Homes for Children, a brilliant organisation which aims to eradicate the institutional care of children. I had initially planned to raise money for an orphanage on my travels but after some research I discovered that orphanages are terrible places for children, even with the best of intentions and resources no one except a family can give those children the love and attention that they need.[/p][p] [/p][p]So please spread the word and donate whatever you can, even if it’s just the price of your morning coffee, or think of me when you get your next paycheck.[/p][p] [/p][p]Thanks so much,[/p][p] Tom[/p]
