My story

[lt]h2[gt]“Building Together in Cambodia” – A Community Project - Phase 2[lt]/h2[gt] [p][b][span=color: #003300;]The Next Step in Fundraising for Anlung Pi (VDCA)[/span][/b][/p] [p][span=text-decoration: underline;]Phase 1[/span] of building Together for Cambodia has been funded and successfully completed. Seven houses have been built and are occupied by seven families. Wells, toilets and water filters have also been provided. We are going to give each family two solar lights.[/p][p]We are now moving on to [span=text-decoration: underline;]Phase 2[/span] of the project to help those families working on the dump.[/p] [p][lt]img style="float: left; margin: 15px;" title="Dump" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-7EyhXFTkb_s/UsuL8Tk9F_I/AAAAAAAAHXM/EMw27hpXaBI/w640-h480-no/Up004.JPG" alt="Dump" width="240" height="180" /[gt]Many young children spend their days at the dump while their parents are scavenging there to earn a living. These children spend their early years in a most unhealthy environment amidst all the filth and rubbish from Siem Reap. They have nothing to play with save what is found at the dump. They deserve access to a healthier environment and opportunities to thrive and grow.[/p] [p]A nursery school of two classrooms has been built in the middle of the houses. It has been furnished and resourced to provide childcare and nursery education for those children aged 3-6 yearsfor who used to spend their days at the dump. The children attend the nursery five days a week from 9am to 4pm.[/p] [p]We are providing a meal each day for each child. A kitchen and dining room has been built for this purpose.[/p] [p]We are raising funds to:[/p] [ul][li]ensure there is always enough equipment and teaching materials for the nursery;[/li][li]provide a hot meal for each child every day they attend the class;[/li][li]provide first aid and basic hygiene supplies;[/li][li]provide school supplies, school uniform and bicycles for children whose families work at the dump to go to state school;[/li][li]provide a fund for families to take their children to hospital when the need arises;[/li][li]help improve their living conditions, as many children live in houses in a very poor state of repair, often with no access to clean water.[/li][/ul][p][lt]img style="float: right; margin: 10px 15px;" title="Nursery" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-KuCIOECw410/UsuMA0mZm7I/AAAAAAAAHYs/W-DRwjyQhTc/w640-h480-no/Up013.JPG" alt="Nursery" width="240" height="180" /[gt][/p][p][/p][p]Much has already been done but there is a need for continual funding to give these young children a good start in life. By donating you play a vital part in supporting this programme and allowing a better future for these children.[/p] [p]All donations are very gratefully received![/p]
