My story

[p]I spent much of 2015 lying face down in water.  I couldn't bear the thought of doing much more of that, so 2016 will involve me being vertical rather than horizontal and attempting to do some running, albeit in excellent swimming locatons.  Those of you who knew me at school will be surprised and amused by this.  I'm going to do Brighton Marathon (April), which will be my first marathon.  Then Windermere Marathon (May) to give me a chance to have a proper look at the lake, ditto in Coniston (June).  And finally The Atlantic Coast Challenge (October) which is the equivalent of over 3 marathons in 3 days, covering the Cornish Coastal Path from Padstow to Lands End.  All pretty challenging![/p][p][edit - unfortunately I ended up with a wonky knee after Windermere and before Coniston which meant that I didn't get to do Coniston or the ACC *sad face* knee is on the mend and I'm going to do 5 half marathons this Autumn instead][/p][p]I appreciate that you will probably all have sponsor-fatigue by now; I'm not really expecting people to sponsor me this time around, but I'm planning on doing cake stalls and any other fundraising that I can think of and this page is a helpful place to keep it together.  Plus, sometimes people do like to donate and I feel like you are getting your money's worth this year :)[/p][p]As most of you will know, I've supported Mind since my lovely friend Emily took her life.  As for myself, many of you will know that I have recurrent depression and am grateful for the work that Mind do in making it easier to speak out about my own mental health problems.  Although I'm happily in my first non recurrent bit for several years :-D Mind also do fantastic work in raising the profile of mental health within the government (having spent 58 weeks on a waiting list for talking therapy I can vouch for how important this is) and offer services such as their InfoLine which advises people with mental health problems.[/p][p]thank you in advance. Verity X[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p]
