My story

[p]I am really proud to be taking up one of the hardest challenges in the world in aid of an amazing charity - Walking with the Wounded. I have had the privilege of spending time with so many incredible men and women serving our country and am always in awe of their dedication and what they give to Queen and country. [/p][p]The Marathon des Sables (MdS) is the stuff of legends - known as 'The Toughest Footrace on Earth'. MdS is a truly gruelling multi-stage adventure through a mythical landscape in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments – the Sahara desert. The MdS takes place over 6 days where I will need to run 156 miles over sand dunes, rocky jebels and salt plains in temperatures that will hit 50 degrees celsius![/p][p]Why Walking With The Wounded? After taking part in this years SAS:WHO DARES WINS I felt a greater need to support the men and women who served us. We're the lucky ones with jobs, families, homes. Most people leave the military without any issue, but for a small minority it isn't so easy.[/p][p]Walking With The Wounded marks its 10th birthday in 2020 and supports the veterans who are struggling with their mental health, who are hard to reach, socially isolated, homeless, in police custody... men and women with little to look forward to but who want to get back into society and employment – which is at the heart of what they do.[/p][p]Crucially, every £675 we raise could support a veteran through their mental health programme, getting 1-2-1 therapy within an average of 4 days of consent. Imagine that. They put their hand up and the support is there. For them or their family.[/p][p]Please give generously to this amazing organisation and I promise to take my body to some dark places in the Sahara! Thank you so much. [/p]
