Team story

[p]So the small but perfectly formed team "[b][i]Are we nearly there yet?[/i][/b]" are taking on a modest, but for us challenging, 25km of the [url=http://www.thamespathchallenge.com/page.php?content_id=72&page_id=2]Thames Path Challenge[/url] on 15th September.  [span=color: #ff0000;][b]Why?[/b][/span][/p][p][span=background-color: #ffffff;]The World Health Organisation ranks migraines as one of the top 20 disabilities with 90,000 people a day missing either work or school due to an attack and a[/span]s some of you might be aware I (Julie) [span=color: #000000;]am [/span]one of those sufferers of [url=http://www.migrainetrust.org/factsheet-migraine-what-is-it-10504]Migraines[/url].  I have been for much of my adult life, only I didn't know that was what it was – doh! My mum (Eileen) also suffered from migraines - following pretty much the same pattern as mine incidentally - so it definitely runs in the family.[/p] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;]Over the last couple of years mine have become worse – more frequent and severe and whilst I now finally have a diagnosis I'm still not at the stage where I'm managing them to a point where they don't affect my day to day life and that of those around me.[/span][/p] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;]The National Migraine Centre are helping me with this and I remain optimistic that I can move beyond my current stop start existence and get back to being productive, energetic, creative and fundamentally me again soon.  [lt]br /[gt] [lt]br /[gt] So, this fundraising is two-fold[/span][/p] [ol] [li][span=background-color: #ffffff;]I always need a challenge (even when I'm feeling rubbish) and I need to have a goal that is getting further than the shop and back or to London to work and back without keeling over, plus my mum has been generous (daft) enough to volunteer to do it with me! and[lt]br /[gt] [lt]br /[gt] [/span][/li] [li][span=background-color: #ffffff;]I wanted to raise money to help the National Migraine Centre in their work researching and supporting people with this disability because as of yet there is no cure and very little understanding - as my struggle to find a diagnosis and my ongoing slog to find a way of managing it demonstrates ...[/span][/li] [/ol] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;]We would hope that with your generosity and support we can improve on the ratio of 1 in 5 people sufferering from lots of different kinds of migraines ([url=http://www.migrainetrust.org/factsheet-migraine-what-is-it-10504]not just a headache[/url]) and help them to get their life back.[lt]br /[gt] [lt]br /[gt] Thank you so much for visiting our page and for taking the time to read this.  We’re starting on our training regime (eek! gently gently ...) and will do our damndest to get to the end in 2 whole pieces, so any donation you are able to make which will help us hit our relatively modest target will be hugely appreciated.[lt]br /[gt] [lt]br /[gt][/span][/p] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;]Julie and Eileen xxx[lt]br /[gt] [lt]br /[gt][/span][/p] [p][span=background-color: #ffffff;]PS  If you sponsor us through Virgin Money Giving donations will be quickly processed and passed to the National Migraine Centre. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this - so don't forget to Gift Aid it!! [/span][/p][p]If you want to do it the old fashioned way, mum and I can both be collared with our HMRC approved sponsor form next time you see us![/p] [p][/p]
