My story

[p]My name is Simon Coates, and between 1st March 2021 and 31st October 2021 I will be undertaking the challenge to hike 2000 miles in aid of 16 charities whose work is close to my heart. I am aiming to raise at least £1000 for each of the charities I am supporting, and these funds will make a real difference in enabling the charities to continue their work and survive the extremely challenging times we find ourselves in.[/p][p]You can find out more about the challenge and keep track of how I am getting on on my website (), by joining the challenge Facebook group () or by following me on Twitter ().[/p][p]The Wildlife Trusts[/p][p]The Wildlife Trusts' vision is of people close to nature, with land and seas rich in wildlife. Their mission is to bring about living landscapes, living seas and a society where nature matters.[/p][p]In 25 years, wildlife, wild places and natural habitats will be abundant and thriving. They will be a significant, commonplace and everyday part of the countryside, our towns and cities, our coasts and seas. Our landscape will be full of flowers and alive with birdsong. Wherever you are, you will be able to see and hear wildlife near by, and know that even the most rare, threatened and endangered species have populations that are stable, resilient and recovering.[/p][p]Out at sea, communities of slow-growing species such as sponges, sea-fans and sea-pens will be re-establishing themselves across much of the seabed; whales, dolphins and porpoises will be abundant and commercial fish stocks will have recovered. The UK will be recognised as somewhere where people live long, healthy, active and fulfilling lives. Among other things, this will be driven by the quality of its natural environment on a global scale and society’s recognition of the contribution it makes to the quality of life, health and prosperity of people living here.[/p][p]You can donate to this campaign in aid of The Wildlife Trusts between 25th February 2021 and 31st January 2022, and anything you can donate will give invaluable support to allow the charity to continue their work.[/p][p]If you would prefer to send a cheque to the charity, you can write to them at the following address - please do include a cover note telling them your donation is as a result of my hiking challenge:[/p][p]The Wildlife Trusts, The Kiln, Mather Road, Newark, NG24 1WT[/p]
