Team story

[p]Dear all.  In April this year 16 men from the high-altitude community of the Everest region, the Sherpa people, were tragically swept away in an avalanche. The impact of this disaster on their families has been dramatic. Survival is far from guaranteed, and therefore the basic well-being of their children and widows hangs in the balance. The Sherpa people are among the most generous and loyal in the world. They are also amongst the poorest. They have supported Britain through over 2 centuries of military-campaigning, and they have backed our greatest mountaineers to success on Nepal's mammoth peaks.    [/p][p]We will be walking the trails of the Khumbu and Gokyo regions with our Sherpa Team and will attempt to do our-bit to ease the hardship. Please - if you can donate even a small amount to this worthy cause - you will be making a huge difference. Just £5 can see a family through many days during the hard winter months.[/p][p](As I write this page: Yesterday a Hurricane and numerous avalanches struck the trekking regions of Nepal. Over 20 people (trekkers and Sherpas) are feared lost)[/p][p]As the Sherpas say, Namaste, or 'I bow to the divine within you' [/p][p]I so appreciate it  (and you could always join us of course.... space for a couple more...plenty of time!)[/p][p]Yours, Paul [/p][p](Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations)[/p]
