Team story

[p]Having raised £7,500 from last year's event, Team Yaknak is back to tackle the Glasgow and Edinburgh 10ks and the London, Glasgow and Jedburgh half marathons! We're fairly awesome.[/p] [p]Yaknak is a small Scottish charity that runs two childrens homes in Nepal. Kapan House and Banglamukhi House are situated on the outskirts of Kathmandu and are each home to eight boys, Ama (Nepali mum) and Didi (big sister). The boys were previously living on the streets of Kathmandu or were displaced by civil war and unable to return home to their villages. They now live in safe, family-style homes, are well cared for and attend local schools. We need to raise £16,000 a year to keep the houses running. Please help us by sponsoring the team. Every penny we raise will be spent in Nepal, with not a penny of your donation spent on admin. Thank you![/p] [p]In this year's team: Kathryn Potter, Mhairi Porch, Liam Porch and Julie Cairney are running the Glasgow 10k; Mhairi Macfarlane, Keren McNamara, Karen Paterson, Keir Murray and Kirsty Malcolm are running the Edinburgh 10k; Rachel Wood is running the Jedburgh half marathon; Louise Alfred is running the London half marathon; Alex Gallagher and Jim Griffin are running the Glasgow half marathon, the Equinox 10k mud run and the Edinburgh 10k; and Coll and Killian McNamara are running the Junior Edibnurgh 10k! [/p]
