My story

[p]Hertford Town Council and the Secret Society of Hertford Crafters (SSOHC) have joined forces to produce a giant knitted, crocheted and crafted Christmas tree towering over 10ft tall which is in Hertford’s Salisbury Square. The tree structure has been constructed by Hertford Town Council and features 40 themed boxes of which 24 will be numbered and opened daily in advent calendar style to unveil crafted scenes. Well over 100 dedicated Yarn Bombers have secretly been making the Christmas tree components since August with the aims of: [/p][p]· bringing joy to Hertford[/p][p]· engendering community spirit[/p][p]· fundraising for local charities[/p][p] this will help Hertford Town Council with their objectives of:[/p][p]Celebrating the community and comradery of the county town of Hertfordshire. [/p][p]Encouraging locals and visitors to shop locally this Christmas and support the array of independent retailers the town has to offer.[/p][p]Helping to fundraise and raise the profile of the chosen charity ‘Herts Young Homeless’. [/p][p]Surrounding the spectacular crafted tree is a fence that includes a total of 96 crafted toppers of which some represent the independent shops and businesses in Hertford.[/p][p]SSOHC chose Herts Young Homeless because it is an amazing local charity providing services to support vulnerable young people; this is important all year round but seems to resonate all the more at Christmas.[/p]
