Story

[p]In April 2019 I will be running the London Marathon in aid of The British Lung Foundation.[/p][p] [/p][p]In early 2018 I lost my Granny Brooks to a progressive and incurable chronic lung condition called COPD, she struggled daily, weekly and monthly with the effects of COPD. The start was the struggle of shortness of breath, coughing and more prone to chest infections and the longer she suffered with the illness the worse it became. The last years spent with my gran where a roller coaster hoping in the winter months she wouldn’t suffer as much as she did the previous year, in the end she was continuously on oxygen and would avoid leaving the house to stay clear of any infections she would pick up as her immune system was so low and her lungs weren’t strong enough to fight infection. Sadly she was rushed into Larbert Hospital late 2017 where she spent her last upcoming weeks before she passed. As much as our family knew she suffered with COPD for many years, no one could prepare you for how poorly she became.[/p][p] One in five every year in the UK are effected by lung disease and this is why I am supporting The British Lung Foundation. The amazing charity support individuals who are effected by lung disease and are continuously researching. [/p][p]I have two people extremely close to me who have suffered/suffers with chronic lung conditions, who shared nothing but love and kindness throughout my life. They taught me to become the person I am today and to always grab choices and opportunities in life. I hope to make them proud, bring more awareness and of course raise as much money as possible for the British Lung Foundation. [/p][p]Not only will I be running for my own personal story but for others too, close friends and work colleagues who have been in similar situations. Wish me luck! Any donations are truly appreciated, thanks again Hayley x[/p][p][br][/p]
