[p][span=font-size: small;][b]Inspiring lives at the birthplace of international rugby[/b][/span][/p][p][span=font-size: small;]This page is in memory of Alan Burns, a great stalwart of Edinburgh Accies, who sadly passed away in April 2017.[/span][/p][p][span=font-size: small;]Alan was a player, member and supporter of the Edinburgh Academical Football Club and although he moved to live near Banff some years ago, he still regularly turned up to support when they had games in that part of Scotland.[/span][/p][p][span=font-size: small;]To commemorate his love of the club, his family are looking to organise a memorial plaque for Alan. This will take pride of place in the new development at Raeburn Place and ensure his memory is providing a permanent legacy of improving lives through sport.[/span][/p][p][span=font-size: small;]Alan’s long association with the club means there are many former Accies who will have played with him and enjoyed his friendship over the years. If you would like to contribute to the target of £2000 to celebrate Alan’s life and his contribution to the club, and to honour his memory, then please consider donating today.[/span][/p][p][span=font-size: small;]Thank you. Remember Alan ,on Dublin tour, arriving at Jury's sitting in a supermarket trolley as his foot had been in plaster which was disintegrating in the rain. Pushers enjoyed seeing Alan get out of the trolley and ask doorman to park it by two Bentleys !

Paul Corrigan

A fantastic guy with unbelievable enthusiasm who made playing for the club a pleasure. He was delighted as results for the "Classics" got better and better and his company after a match was great. A real enthusiast for the game.

A R McAslan

Sorry to hear the sad news. Fond memories of Alan at RP, keeping us all organised ahead of match day and on the day itself. Even many years later bumping into in him around Barnton, always an enthusiastic hello and a warm handshake. Rest in peace.
