[p]Update[/p][p]On Wednesday 26th February, the search for Dad will form part of a feature on BBC2 in the RNLI's "Saving Live's at Sea" series. [/p][p]We granted permission for footage from the search and interviews with the RNLI volunteers to further support the RNLI. The team from the RNLI, and especially in Poole, have been so great to us and we want to support them in whatever way we can.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Alistair Collier[/p][p]1st July 1958 - 7th October 2018[/p][p][br][/p][p]Ali's family has created this fundraising page dedicated to his memory. We would like to raise money for the RNLI in thanks for their enormous support at this tragic time. They could not have done more and we are extremely grateful that such an organisation exists. We have already met with some of the crew members who took part in the search for Dad/Ali to express our own thanks and have set up this page to allow others to do the same in his memory.[/p][p][br][/p][p]On Saturday 6th October 2018, Alistair Collier was paddling in his kayak as part of an organised race and, due to the adverse weather conditions, was separated from the racing group and stranded at sea. He was located after an extensive and dedicated search and rescue operation on Sunday afternoon and was, regrettably and extremely sadly, pronounced dead at the scene.[/p][p][br][/p][p]We would like to thank all of those who contributed to and supported us during the search for Dad - the RNLI, HM Coastguard, The Royal Navy (especially the crew of HMS Tyne), the Dorset Police, volunteers and members of the public walking on the coastline and those who supported these efforts from afar. The search operation was one of the largest of its kind for the RNLI and the Coastguard and we could not imagine how much worse our experience would have been without their expertise, support and condolences. Every single possible resource was deployed and we have such a huge amount of respect and gratitude for those who dedicate their time and energy to providing safety for those at sea. We have all seen how cruel it can be.[/p][p][br][/p][p]We have been overwhelmed with messages of support from our own friends and families, as well as those who knew Dad from his work, the numerous watersports families and beyond. It's a wonderful testament to his character and the impression he has left on others. We would like to thank those who have offered their condolences and support and recognise that there are many more of you who feel like you should not or cannot contact us at this time. Thank you everyone for your considerations, thoughts and prayers in whatever way these are expressed.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Many of you have expressed your wishes to make a donation and we want to use this page as a way for those who would like to make a contribution to the RNLI to do so in Dad/Ali's memory. [/p][p][br][/p][p]We hope to be able to use this space to share thoughts and memories of Dad/Ali over the coming weeks and we have started with a selection of photos of our adventures with him over the last few years.[/p][p][br][/p]
