[p]Nearly three years ago, my wonderful, hilarious, big-hearted friend Amy was lost during a postpartum psychotic episode, five days after giving birth to her second son. She is missed so much by everyone who knew her. [/p][p]Amy loved lots of things: playing the piano, chocolate cheesecake, Ryan Gosling… and swimming in the sea. To honour her memory, I’m planning to sea-swim 40 miles in 40 days, with the final day falling on 25th June, her 40th birthday. [/p][p]I’m raising money for two charities who helped Amy’s family after we tragically lost her: [/p][p]Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) supports women and families affected by postpartum psychosis across the UK. They provide information and peer support, facilitate research into the condition, raise awareness of this rare, yet severe, postnatal mental illness and campaign for improved services. [/p][p]Winston’s Wish is a bereavement charity that provides emotional and practical support to children and their families after the death of a parent or sibling. Raising £8.50 could enable them to provide one child with a memory box that can be used to store treasured objects, helping them to remember their loved-one in a way that is personal to them. Raising £20 could fund their Freephone National Helpline for one day, which is the gateway to their services, offering parents, professionals and children therapeutic advice.[/p][p]Please donate whatever you can. [/p][p]Wish me luck… and wish Amy a Happy 40th in your own way. She loved a celebration! [/p][p] [/p][p] [/p][p][br][/p]
