[p][/p][hr/][p][/p][p]We are fundraising for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, which is now known as Bloodwise, on behalf of Ben Denton, who was diagnosed with Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia - AALL - mid August 2015 and started courses of Chemotherapy which is pretty brutal.[/p][p][/p][hr/][p][/p][p][/p][p]We would like to personally thank players from the Peterborough Saxons for taking part in a sponsored run, wearing full match kit. They raised over £1000 so many thanks to them and all of their sponsors! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][hr/][p][/p][p][/p][p]Bens 26th birthday, on 24th September, brought some very good news - he is in remission. This does NOT mean he has won the battle but he has won the first skirmish and this is fabulous news!! [/p][p][/p][hr/][p][/p][p][/p][hr/][p]Around 6,000 people are diagnosed with AALL every year, and symptoms can include fever including night sweats and high heart rate, signs of recurrent infection, increased tendency to bleed and signs indicative of anaemia. If you have any of these symptoms then it is important to have a blood test to rule out anything more sinister than the suspected cold. Find out more information at https://bloodwise.org.uk[/p] [p][/p] [hr/] [p] Ben has a passion for many sports and he proudly led the Oxford Saints American Football Club as their starting quarterback #10 for the 2015 season. With Ben at the helm, the club enjoyed a successful season and his dedication helped earn their first playoff spot since 2012. The team were deeply saddened when Bens diagnosis was confirmed with the playoff game just a few days away. The whole club supports Ben fully and wish him well on his road to recovery and hope to have him back soon. Many of his Saints team mates will be participating in these fundraising events, with the aim of raising a lot of money for such a worthy cause! Ben was recently voted Offensive Player of the Year and Players Player of the Year at their recent awards night.[/p][p][/p][hr/][p][/p][p]Please see the main page where you can see how much we have raised in total [span=color: #0066cc;]http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SomeoneSpecial/DentonStrong[/span][/p][p][/p]
