[p]John Roberts, stalwart of St George’s Kidney Patients Association (SGKPA) from 1999 to 2014, died peacefully in his sleep on 20 August 2020 at the age of 82. He is mourned by Beryl, his wife of 55 years, 3 sons, daughters-in-law, 5 grandchildren, family members and his many friends.[/p][p]John underwent a kidney transplant 35 years ago and was a kidney patient at St George’s Hospital when St George’s moved to its current location at Tooting, in South London.[/p][p]John was Chair of SGKPA from 1999 to 2000 and Honorary Secretary from 2002 to 2014. Beryl was also a SGKPA committee member during these years, and both John and Beryl devoted much of their time in furthering the interests of kidney patients.[/p][p]John had to resign at the end of 2014 because of his deteriorating eyesight and was blind in the later years of his life. However, John was always in good spirits with a great zest for life and never complained about his ailments, and was pleased and grateful that he had his family around him.[/p]
