[p]Thank you to everyone who supported this appeal. We successfully raised the £3,500 needed to buy the ice machine (& 1-year's maintenance costs) for Barnwell C ward at Kettering General Hospital. This means that future patients will be able to enjoy refreshing, ice cold water in dad's memory.[/p][p]It is my intention to continue to raise money for the hospital, through greetings cards and calendars featuring my dad's beautiful paintings.[/p][p] For more information visit www.wildlifeinwatercolour.co.uk [/p][p]Our story[/p][p]On Monday April 16, 2018, our lives changed forever. After seven weeks in Kettering General Hospital fighting so hard to live, not least because of his devotion to my mum, Leslie Ellison, a much beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend, lost his battle against leukaemia and sepsis. My dad was truly one of a kind, talented, clever, funny and with a personality, spirit and heart as big as they come - he lit up a room and his lecturer's voice made sure you'd hear him coming! [/p][p]The sepsis meant that my dad was very poorly during the last weeks of his life; he hardly ate or drank anything. Two of his few pleasures were cold milk and iced water, which soothed his dry, sore throat. Unfortunately, ice machines cost the NHS about £3,000 to buy (risk of infection means they have to buy specialist equipment and maintain a strict regime for maintenance), so there wasn't one on his ward. It was hit and miss whether we were able to get it, though the busy nurses tried their best. So other patients can benefit in the future, we would therefore like to raise money to buy an ice machine for Barnwell C ward, which will be installed in dad's memory. Your help and support - however small or large - would be very gratefully appreciated.[/p]

I’m so sorry for your loss, praying for you at this sad and difficult time. Wish I could donate more! After being in hospital for two operations last year myself I think an ice-machine is a great idea! Well done my lovely xxx
