[p]In Autumn 2015 Nick was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer. The team in Urology and Oncology at both the Royal Surrey Hospital and the Nuffield (Guildford) treated him using cutting edge science and with the most amazing compassion. Nick was incredibly proud to have been operated on by a robot and enjoyed telling people how he had been to meet it before it operated on him. That robot gave him some healthy and happy years. The Royal Surrey is raising funds for their recently built Urology Unit via The Prostate Project, which will benefit patients like Nick as amazing medical science advances. [/p][p]As a family we would like to support this unit and the good work that Professor Langley, Mr Patil and their team do to help patients with bladder cancer. [/p][p]In October 2018 whilst on holiday in Ireland Nick suffered serious peritonitis with a perforated bowel that resulted in him going into septic shock. He managed a gradual recovery but in January this year sepsis took his life. [/p][p]As a family we realised how little support there is for sepsis patients especially for their mental health and we would like to raise funds for The UK Sepsis Trust to help others who have been through what he went through.[/p]
