[p]The Barnes Group are raising money for AMEND UK, a charity close to the hearts of the Fayers family. [/p][p]After a courageous battle and with great dignity, Nick sadly passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2017, aged 56, surrounded by his loving family. Nick had a long-standing condition called MEN1, for which the family and The Barnes Group (where Nick worked for the last 34 years), will now work to raise more funds to support research and provide advice to sufferers.[/p][p]Nick will be sadly missed by all who knew him.[/p][p]About the Charity[/p][p]The Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders (AMEND) is a patient group set up in 2002 to support and inform anyone affected by or interested in multiple endocrine neoplasia disorders and their associated endocrine tumours. AMEND is run by patients, for patients, and became a UK registered charity no.1099796 in 2003.[/p][p]The aim of AMEND is to improve the well- being of all persons affected by MEN and endocrine tumours by:[/p][p]· Providing support to patients and their families and friends.[/p][p]· Providing information about MEN and other relevant issues relating to genetic disorders.[/p][p]· Promoting a wider knowledge of MEN among the medical profession to assist in early and accurate diagnosis.[/p][p]· Assisting in future MEN research.[/p][p]Every penny raised by members and supporters goes to helping AMEND to provide information and support to patients and families affected by MEN and related endocrine tumours and to fund their various research awards into the MEN diseases.[/p][p]Easyfundraising[/p][p]Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you could be raising a free donation for AMEND? There are nearly 3,000 retailers including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's, who will donate a percentage of the amount you spend to AMEND (Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders) to say thank you for shopping with them.[/p][p]It's really simple, and doesn't cost you anything.[/p][p]All you have to do is:[/p][p]1. Go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/amend[/p][p]2. Sign up for free[/p][p]3. Get shopping - your donations will be collected by easyfundraising and automatically sent to AMEND (Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders). So very sad to hear about Nick. We were best friends at primary school but lost touch after that. I remember him as a very kind hearted lovely boy. Sincere condolences to all his family and friends.
