[p]We are raising money in memory of our beloved dad, husband, brother and grandad, Peter, who sadly passed away recently, aged 85. We have chosen the two charities below in honour of his memory. [/p][p]The Mustard Seed Project (Kenya) is a small UK charity supporting the people of an urban slum area of Mombasa, aiming to help them out of poverty by providing access to quality education. Earlier this year, after many years of fundraising, they completed the construction of a school. This charity honours Peter’s very close affinity with Kenya and its people after doing his national service there. The friendliness and hospitality of the people and the beauty of the Country stayed forever in his heart and he travelled back many times.[/p][p]The Oesophageal Patients Association has been chosen as it provided invaluable support to the family during his son-in-law’s, Mike’s, illness. Peter was incredibly close to Mike and he missed him dearly. This is a small charity that does a huge amount of work to advise and support patients and their families and also importantly to raise the awareness and profile of this dreadful disease. It is the 6th most common cause of cancer deaths in the UK and survival rates are low due to a lack of advances in treatments, compared with other cancers.[/p][p]We, Peter’s family, would like to give you our heartfelt thanks for your donations to these special causes.[/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p]
