[p] Thank you for visiting my fund raising page for the Prudential London Surrey 100 mile cycle. I’m raising money for the Child Growth Foundation (CGF) because my son Rory has Russell-Silver Syndrome (RSS). Rory is a fantastic little boy who loves cricket, cycling, being outdoors and all the other things that 8 year old boys like. He also has a wicked sense of humour. In fact, unless you knew he had RSS, you probably wouldn’t think anything other than he is a little bit shorter than his class and team mates. [/p][p] [/p][p] In recent months, Rory has wanted to know more about RSS, why he has to have a growth hormone injection every day and a handful of medicines to help encourage his appetite. Not feeling hungry is a major issue for RSS children. Unfortunately, whilst there is a body of research, there are lots of questions that are unanswered. This is why Rory and I would like to heighten the profile of RSS and support the CGF by helping them find the funds to do more research in to RSS. [/p][p] [/p][p] The CGF is a small charity with a very dedicated team who have done a lot to support my family. They are funding research, including a number of studies that Rory has taken part in, in to other areas of RSS to discover how it impacts on children’s’ learning and development. As a small charity, the value of your donation is enormous to the work they do.[/p][p] [/p][p] If you’d like to learn more about the CGF, here is a link to their website http://childgrowthfoundation.org/[/p][p] [/p][p] As a proud Dad, every day I see Rory’s inventiveness, adaptability, courage and determination to overcome the challenges he faces. He is my inspiration and my motivation to rise to this challenge. If I can show half of the qualities he has in my quest to conquer the Prudential 100, I will smash it. Your support will also spur me on.[/p][p] [/p][p] From Rory and from me, a huge thank you for anything you are able to spare for this amazing cause.[/p][p] [/p][p] Will[/p][p] [/p]
