[p]Our Journey[/p][p]Thirty years ago, the Zambezi River in all its guises – waterfalls, crashing rapids, lakes, a meandering delta and a life-giving waterway – inspired the birth of Africa Exclusive. To celebrate our milestone birthday, in May and June 2020 we will travel the entire 1,600-mile length of the Zambezi as it makes its way through six African countries to raise money for three inspirational charities.[/p][p]Our journey will see us travel by boat, canoe, raft, sailing dhow, foot and road as we immerse ourselves in iconic stretches of river, such as Victoria Falls, and take on the challenge of navigating lesser known waters. [/p][p]As we travel, we will be raising money to help protect awesome natural environments and support local communities. One such initiative is the Living with Wildlife project which has been developed by two charities close to our hearts, Send a Cow and Tusk, to support the people and wildlife of Murchison Falls in Uganda. [/p][p]In addition to these efforts in Africa, we will also be supporting the Northampton Saints Foundation who do valuable work with underprivileged children in our local area.[/p][p]We have set ourselves a fundraising target of £30,000, £1,000 for each year we have been arranging safaris to Africa. If you would like your donation to be divided between our charities, you can click the donate button above. If you would prefer your entire donation to go directly to the Living with Wildlife project or the Northampton Saints Foundation, links to their individual pages can be found below.[/p][p]Thank you for your support.[/p][p]Living with Wildlife – Tusk and Send a Cow[/p][p]The Living with Wildlife project is a partnership between Send a Cow and Tusk to help protect the people and wildlife of Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. It is supported by the UK government, which is matching all public donations to the Living with Wildlife Appeal between 15th January and 14th April 2020.[/p][p]By giving people the skills to grow their own food and create sustainable ways of making a living, the Living with Wildlife project will help some of Uganda’s most vulnerable families to lift themselves out of poverty while also protecting endangered wildlife.[/p][p]“What makes people hunt is the same thing that used to make me. They are looking for an income because we have a very big problem here – we have no food. Between morning and sunset, we have not tasted food all day.” – Ujeni, local farmer[/p][p]For more information and to donate specifically to this cause, please visit our Living With Wildlife page.[/p][p]Northampton Saints Foundation[/p][p]Our children are our future and we share a responsibility to support and educate them on their journey to adulthood. Through innovative and exciting programmes, the Northampton Saints Foundation, part of Northampton Rugby Football Club, uses the power of sport to educate, inspire and support young people in need. [/p][p]The aim of the Northampton Saints Foundation is to create a unique progression pathway which appreciates the individual needs of each young person. Their ultimate objective is that young person’s re-engagement and re-integration into mainstream education. Parallel to this, their work in mainstream primary schools has seen over 5,000 children participate in programmes designed to educate and develop motivation and self-esteem.[/p][p]For more information and to donate specifically to this cause, please visit our Northampton Saints Foundation page.[/p]
