On 24th September, whilst walking along the SW Coast Path near St Just in Cornwall, Andrew suffered a terrible accident, falling 20m down into an old mine working. The resulting rescue operation took the combined emergency services over six hours, involving Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, South West Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and Cornwall Search and Rescue Team. After initial medical treatment, CSRT mine rescue volunteers were able to use their technical rescue skills to safely evacuate Andrew back up to the mine entrance through the narrow shaft.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]The team is made up entirely of volunteers and relies on donations for equipment, vehicles and operational costs, amounting to £18,000 annually. Although the team were able to evacuate Andrew safely, volunteers needed to use some of their own personal equipment, so we'd like to thank the team by raising some of the required funds (£5,500) to provide this equipment for the whole team.[lt]br /[gt][vmgvideo class="ql-video" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7Cpj5TjYMyQ?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3"][/vmgvideo]
