I cycled a total of 178 miles from Plymouth to Bristol, and visited the three charities I'm raising funds for along the way. [/p][p][/p][p]If you haven't already made a donation, please do so through this page that I'll keep open for a couple more weeks as I collect the remaining donations.[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way, especially my husband John as I wouldn't have been able to do this without his help.[/p][p][/p][p]Here's a short video to document my journey.[/p][p][/p][p][lt]object width="425" height="350" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/0khKHd2TkvA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"[gt][lt]param name="data" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0khKHd2TkvA" /[gt][lt]param name="quality" value="high" /[gt][lt]param name="wmode" value="transparent" /[gt][lt]param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0khKHd2TkvA" /[gt][lt]/object[gt][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In August 2017 I will be cycling from Plymouth to Bristol, aiming to raise a total of £3,000 for these three amazing organisations:[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][/p][ul][li][span=color: #3366ff;]Devon Air Ambulance Trust[/span][/li][li][span=color: #3366ff;]Intensive care unit based at Southmead Hospital Bristol (through Southmead Hospital Charity)[/span][/li][li][span=color: #3366ff;]Plym Neurological Rehab Unit (through Plymouth Hospitals General Charity)[/span][/li][/ul][lt]br /[gt]Starting from the Plym Neuro Unit on Friday 18th August, I will cycle around 20 miles a day, visiting the Devon Air Ambulance in Exeter on 23rd, and finishing at Bristol Southmead Hospital Intensive Care Unit on 31st August. There will be a few rest days along the way too![lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]These three organisations helped save my life, back in 2014, after a serious paragliding accident. I owe them everything, and this is my way to try to say thank you, and show them just how much of a difference they have made to me.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]I won't go into detail about my injuries, but to give you an idea of the severity I'll tell you that I had multiple serious traumas to my lower spine, pelvis, legs and feet. I spent 6 weeks in the trauma unit of intensive care at Bristol Southmead where I underwent many surgeries to patch me back together, and a total of 5 months in hospital before I was able to finally go home. I'm fortunate to be alive, and walking, and cycling again! So this is a celebration, and a thank you![lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]I'll be setting off from Plym Neuro Rehab Unit in Plymouth, where I spent two months to get me from wheelchair-bound, to back on my feet! The specialist physios, occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, and all the caring staff there were so brilliant and understanding, they worked so hard to keep me advancing and getting my life back. I'll get the chance to meet some of those staff again as I set off on this journey.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]The next milestone is visiting the Devon Air Ambulance Trust in Exeter, where I'll get to meet one of the air ambulance paramedics who attended the scene of my accident in Somerset and got me to hospital so quickly.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]Then heading north from Exeter I'll steadily (and fairly slowly) be making my way up to Bristol Southmead hospital intensive care unit, reaching there on 31st August, exactly 3 years after my accident. I hope to get to meet some of the many nurses, doctors and consultants who fixed me back together. If it wasn't for their amazing skills and constant drive to give me a chance at a normal life after this, I don't know where I would be now.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]
