[p]****PAGE CLOSED - PLEASE DO NOT USE OR LINK FUNDRAISERS****[/p][p]UPDATE: LIBERTY'S LEGACY ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT AS OF 01/02/18 THEY ARE NOW WORKING DIRECTLY WITH THE BONE CANCER RESEARCH TRUST. [/p][p]SINCE OCTOBER 2017 WE HAVE RAISED OVER £50K FOR THE EWING'S SARCOMA RESEARCH TRUST . THEY, TOGETHER WITH THE BONE CANCER RESEARCH TRUST, A CHARITY WITH WHOM THEY WORK VERY CLOSELY, WILL BE IN A POSITION TO SHORTLY USE LIBERTY'S FUNDS RAISED TO DATE TOWARDS LIFESAVING EWING'S RESEARCH PROJECTS. [/p][p]LIBERTY'S LEGACY IS VERY MUCH STILL ACTIVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO FUNDRAISE UNTIL THERE IS A CURE. HOWEVER THIS PAGE HAS NOW CLOSED AND A NEW PAGE HAS BEEN OPENED WITH THE BONE CANCER RESEARCH TRUST AS THE CHOSEN CHARITY - https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SomeoneSpecial/LibertySchurer2[/p][p]LIBERTY'S LEGACY IS A SPECIAL FUND OF THE BONE CANCER RESEARCH TRUST RAISING VITAL FUNDS FOR LIFE SAVING RESEARCH SPECIFICALLY INTO EWING'S SARCOMA.[/p][p][br][/p][p]After a courageous 13 month battle with cancer, our beloved daughter, Liberty Grace, sadly gained her angel wings on October 11th 2017, aged just 14 years. [/p][p]Liberty was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in September 2016 on her 13th birthday. It is a rare and very aggressive form of bone cancer, affecting less than 30 children in the UK each year. [/p][p]Durimg her gruelling treatment, Liberty was an absolute inspiration to us all, she just got on with it in typical Libs fashion, rarely loosing her amazing and oh so cheeky sense of humour, that dazzling smile for which she will forever be remembered, rarely slipping from her face. We could not have been more proud. [/p][p]Sadly just days from finishing treatment in August this year, we received the news we forever dreaded. The Ewing's had returned and devestatingly and extensively spread to both lungs, her liver and the lymph glands in her thighs. There was nothing more that could be done. [/p][p]But still she fought on with that fierce determination that she was so know for, opting for yet more chemotherapy to try and extend her life. But the cancer was just too aggressive, the tumour burden too great, her tiny frame just too weak. [/p][p]Throughout the course of the past year our biggest frustration and hers has been the total lack of funding and research into this deadly form of the disease. The protocol with which she was treated was decades old, designed for adults, and sadly survival rates for Ewing's have not improved in nearly 50 years. How can this be?[/p][p]in her final weeks, Liberty's greatest wish was that we continue to fundraise in her name, with all proceeds to go towards research into Ewing's so that no other child need suffer in the same way, no other family be devestatingly ripped apart. [/p][p]We therefore respectfully ask that rather than flowers at her service, a donation is made in Liberty's memory, so that one day her wish can be fulfilled. [/p][p]Any other future fundraising events can also be linked to this page in Liberty's memory. [/p][p]Fly high baby girl, you will never be forgotten, you were so loved, are so missed, more than you will ever know. You deserved so much more...[/p]
