[p]The Hocking family would like you to help raise money for Two Wheels for Life, whose work was so close to Paul's heart.[/p][p]Paul was chairman of the charity, supporting life-saving projects that ensure care reaches rural communities in the most remote parts of Africa. He was visiting one of these programmes run by development partner Riders for Health, in Lesotho, when he lost his life. [/p][p]His passion and enthusiasm for building on the work that the charity are supporting in Lesotho was something he expressed to many people. As a family, we are keen for his dedication, love and ambition for the programme to continue.[/p][p]The Lesotho Programme[/p][p]Paul had visited the Lesotho programme many times and understood the great importance of the work the charity supports there. He recognised that by providing reliable transport and training for health workers, the charity was enabling remote communities and villages to benefit from care which they would otherwise be cut off from. [/p][p]Paul knew of the everyday struggles of getting basic care across Lesotho, including treating women in dangerous labour and preventing the spread of disease, and that this was impossible without appropriate transport and a reliable infrastructure. The variable terrain within Lesotho, along with extreme weather conditions ranging from snow to extreme heat, further highlighted this need.[/p][p]Paul’s vision from his recent trip was to refurbish and equip a workshop, to service vehicles for the whole country. He knew the Lesotho team and their capability very well and what they could achieve with support and funding. [/p][p]About Two Wheels for Life and Riders for Health [/p][p]UK based charity Two Wheels for Life provides support for healthcare transport systems in rural Africa. The programmes they support are run by local development partner Riders for Health (Riders) and operate in 7 African countries.[/p][p]The programmes use a simple but vital tool to dramatically improve healthcare - reliable transport. Working in remote and rural parts of Africa they run vehicles such as ambulances and outreach vehicles, providing the maintenance, fuel and training that mean they are guaranteed to run day in, day out. This sustainable infrastructure enables medical supplies, care and education to reach villages and families where it is needed.[/p][p][br][/p]
