Young Cameron hopes to burn rubber on first run

5 October2012

Sunday 7 October sees the Mini Great Edinburgh Run held in Holyrood Park and among the little legs taking part will be four year old Cameron Scott.

Cameron will be taking part in his first ever race and is running the 1.5km course to raise money and awareness for the Fire Fighters Charity. Cameron is the son of a third generation fire fighter and the family have had first hand experience of using the charity, which provides vital support to fire service personnel and their families when they need it most. The charity has three specialist centres located in Devon, Cumbria and West Sussex and offers fire fighters the help they need to recover from injury, surgery or illness so that they can get back to their important job of saving lives.

Cameron said: “I am really excited about doing my first ever run. My daddy is a fireman, so I want to raise money for the Fire Fighter Charity. My family have had to use the charity before and they have helped to make them better. I don’t think I’ll be the fastest on the day but I’ll try as hard as I can!”

To raise funds Cameron’s mum has set up a Virgin Money Giving page and so far he has managed to raise over £250 with lots of good luck messages being left on his fundraising page to support him in his efforts.

Alex Heasley, Head of Virgin Money Giving said: “All of us at Virgin Money Giving would like to wish Cameron the very best of luck in his first run. It’s a fantastic cause he’s raising money for and I am sure that he will do just fine and enjoy his first ever run.”
