Raising funds to power the Dementia Revolution

Virgin Money colleagues share their fundraising activities

Virgin Money colleagues share their fundraising activities.

Virgin Money’s Charity of the Year for 2019 was the Dementia Revolution, and to support the cause colleagues from across the Virgin Money business took on personal challenges to help raise awareness and funds for this brilliant charity.

Here, we share some of the great fundraising stories from across Virgin Money, showing how people from a big corporate organisation can support charities and make a difference.

Coast to Coast Cycling Challenge

A team of colleagues took on a coast-to-coast challenge. Over two days, the group – known as the Bankers on their Bikes – cycled 130 miles and climbed 10,000ft on their journey from Whitehaven on the west coast to Tynemouth on the east coast. The team raised over £1,000, a fantastic achievement.

The Mighty Hike

A team of 10 colleagues from Virgin Money’s Reward, Payroll and Pensions Team set themselves the challenge of raising a day’s pay for each of the colleagues talking part in this 26 mile walk from Warkworth Castle to Bamburgh Castle. To assist with their fundraising they held a donut sale, raffle, tombola and foreign currency collection.

Taken for a spin

The Virgin Money gym team put together a huge spinning challenge to cycle 700 miles in a day. They had colleagues from across the whole business each doing a stint on the spinning bikes to make sure they made the 700 miles. They were a little short so to make sure they didn’t fail, a couple of colleagues continued with some solo miles in the gym later that day. Now that’s dedication to the cause!
