Get your supporters behind the #twopointsixchallenge

Let's get the nation behind you.

With only a few days to go before the #TwoPointSixChallenge really gets going, here’s a simple guide to how you can get involved, ways in which you can engage your supporters and an explanation into how the money will reach all the charities involved.

What is the challenge about?

Sunday 26 April, would have seen the 40th year of the London Marathon, which has seen over £1 billion being raised for good causes. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Virgin Money London Marathon, as well as other mass participation events have been postponed, resulting in many charities having to reduce or stop services at a time when they’re needed most.

The #TwoPointSixChallenge is a way of bringing the nation together to support UK charities by inviting supporters to be creative around the number 2.6 and 26, to raise much needed funds.

People can do whatever the wish, as long as they adhere to the Government social distancing guidelines.

Once they’ve completed their challenges, fundraised or donated, they then nominate friends and family to get involved.

How does your charity get involved?

If you’re already a registered charity on Virgin Money Giving, you are all set to get involved and benefit from the campaign.

Your supporters can either chose to make a direct donation or set up a fundraising page using the 2.6 Challenge event (event ID35005). Just direct them to support your charity using the deeplinks we sent you last week (Thursday 16 April). Like all other funds raised through Virgin Money Giving, all money raised for the 2.6 Challenge will be paid in the usual way and there’s nothing else you need to do.

Alternatively, if people who don’t have a specific charity in mind, they can still get involved by choosing to donate directly to the challenge organisers website at www.TwoPointSixChallenge.co.uk. All the money donated via this method will be pooled together in a central pot and distributed based on the ratio of money raised by each participating charity through the combined total on Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving, once the event is finished.
