Virtual Fundraising - All you need is creativity

The wonderful, wacky and whimsical ways to give back

Although the world may be self-isolating and social distancing, it’s possible, through technology, to set new personal challenges, stay fit, make new friends, try new things and come together for good.

You don't have to be together to come together

There are loads of ways you can get involved from starting your own fundraising page, donating your stuff or making a donation.

Shave. Donate. Nominate.

We've been amazed by the number of people doing their bit for charity by shaving their heads.

If you've been inspired by people like Alex Davis braving the shave, now is your chance to get involved. Join the Shave. Donate. Nominate. movement or start your own.

Home-fitness fundraisers

We've seen some very creative fitness challenges, from climbing Ben Nevis on your stairs at home, to running a marathon in the back garden. But you don't have to be super fit to get involved. Our 5k a day challenge is another great way to support your favorite cause.

Got a question?

Here are some of the more commonly asked questions about fundraising with Virgin Money Giving.

You can add up to 5 charities to each fundraising page, and even customise what percentage of funds each will receive.

You’ll be able to see your page on Virgin Money Giving for 3 months after the activity date. After 3 months the page will become inactive and stop showing up in searches. You can always re-open the page by signing in to your account and selecting ‘Re-open’ from the options.

We transfer the donations your page receives to your chosen charity/charities once a week. This happens automatically and won’t be affected by closing the page.

Use the 'raised offline' section of your fundraising page to add the value of the donations on your sponsorship form. Just below your target on the page is a section for offline funds, click on 'Edit' to type in the value of the funds raised - and it'll count toward your total raised.

The money and form can then be sent directly to the charity you're supporting, they'll claim the Gift Aid for these supporters.

Alternatively, you can add the cash donations to your page using a payment card or through PayPal, just before not to add Gift Aid when donating collected funds in this way.

The Government allows charities to claim back tax on donations. This tax relief is called 'Gift Aid'.

Gift Aid is great because it means charities get extra money added to their donations at no extra cost to the donor. For every £1 donated, the charity currently receives £1.25 when you add Gift Aid. To make it easier we claim Gift Aid from HMRC on behalf of charities and pass over in full free of charge.
