A Thank You from Team Ziffit: £100k Raised for UK Charities

Just after lockdown hit last year, we partnered with Ziffit Donate, a free online service launched to sell unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and games, whose value could be donated directly to a fundraising page. And it couldn't have come at a better time for charities.

The crisis created a £10bn decline in income, just as their services were needed more than ever. Ziffit Donate became another way of helping charities through these unprecedented times and offered up an alternative way for people to support causes close to their heart.

Since the launch, thousands of people have got busy decluttering and donating. We’re thrilled to announce that the partnership has now raised a fantastic £100,000 for charities across the UK! For each and every person who has done their bit to help charities with Ziffit Donate, we want to say a huge THANK YOU for your support.

But this is just the beginning. The world may be beginning to open up again, but charities are still feeling the impact. 83% of charities are still experiencing a decline in income with 75% reporting sharp increases in demand1. Good causes still need your support and Ziffit Donate is a way to continue to raise funds for them.

Richard Salt, the Group Commercial Director at World of Books Group, said: “Many charities have faced a really difficult time during lockdown and every penny raised matters. When we launched in April 2020, our goal was to offer people an alternative way to donate to the causes close to their hearts and we’re so proud to see how people and charities have embraced it. This is just the beginning and we have some exciting developments in the pipeline to further support good causes through this innovative partnership.”

Jo Barnett, Executive Director at Virgin Money Giving, said: “The response from everyone – charities, fundraisers and Ziffit customers – has been fantastic. It’s been wonderful to see how the service has been received and embraced. Charities still need our support and offering alternative ways to donate and fundraise for good causes makes all the difference. Fundraising innovation is exactly what the sector needs – and we’re proud to be working with World of Books Group to further develop the service to make an even bigger impact.”
